Hello, my name is Jaabir Ahamed Saleem, I am 16 years old, and a high school student at Irvington High Fremont CA. As a senior in high school, I am interested in the tech field, because of the many opportunities it has to offer. This year has been tough and stressful for everyone I believe that as the next generation we have the responsibility to make social and health problems affect the world and to do that technology is a solution if we can use it properly. When we use our imagination and technology we can find solutions to most things, "Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution"- Albert Einstien.

April 2016-2019 - Present

I have volunteered at a homeless shelter for three years as a food server with my other colleagues and gained experience in social work. We cooked for sixty people within two hours and managed to serve them with only a couple members and I believe this was possible because of proper preparation, management, and teamwork. The experience taught me the importance of proper team management and communication. This helped my creativity and create a flow within our group to get the job done. I believe working in groups can efficiently solve and complete tasks rather than having one person who is able to get many things done at once.

Benchmarks in High School

Janruary 2007 - March 2011

I have experience in many group projects especially during my freshman year in high school called the Change Project. This project required expert-level research on an environmental issue. We had to create a research paper that contains at least twenty pages of research, and part of the project was to do some fieldwork on the issue by creating a temporary or permanent solution. My group and I worked on Monarch butterfly decline as it's crucial for our agriculture. We planted a milkweed garden in a local park and other places. In the end, we made a presentation and presented it in front of all the freshmen classes. This project taught me the importance of communication, teamwork, and resourcefulness.

I am a senior at Irvington High School, and I am graduating in the year 2021. Within my 4 years at Irvington, I have learned many skills in the fields of research and computer science. This year as a senior all students must complete a year-long benchmark to test our skills in research and problem-solving. I believe that completing this project will give me a sense of the adult world that awaits ahead of me.
